AMD Athlon XP 2400+ --> 1800+??

OK, what I'm going to do is remove the battery, because I read that it sets the BIOS back to defaults, which then means I can change it again :D Is this right?

My FSB is 266Mhz.
No it isnt. Its 133. The 266 is the effective BUS speed because of DDR :) (hence you'll see FSB=133, BUS=266)

I think the manual says something like remove battery, set the jumpers to 1-2 for a few seconds, restore jumper to 2-3 and replace batter :)

ok, I got it back. It says its a 2400+ which is good, but now it DOES actually say 166 on the startup......

Hmm I see that many people are having simmilar problems.

It's not so much of a problem as my PC is doing a stable 2.0Ghz, like it should do, but I was wondering why it says 166, as Praetor said it should only say 133Mhz........ :confused:

you are confusing FSB with BUS Speed.

FSB "Stands for Front Side Bus, which denotes the speed at which your processor interacts with the components on the motherboard. Typically the FSB is 100Mhz or 133Mhz, but overclockers often manipulate this value to increase the speed at which their processor runs. i.e. 100Mhz FSB X 5.0 clock multiplier = 500Mhz processor."

Bus Speed "The speed of the bus that connects the processor to main memory (RAM). As processors have become faster and faster, the system bus has become one of the chief bottlenecks in modern PCs. Typical bus speeds are 66 MHz, 100 MHz, 133 MHz or 400 MHz. "

So he is saying that your FSB which is the speed at which your processor interacts with the components on your motherboard... is 133MHz and your Bus Speed, which is the speed of the bus that connects your processor to your RAM is 266MHz.

Thats fine. PC2700 runs at 166MHz (or DDR333) so everything is good

but I was wondering why it says 166, as Praetor said it should only say 133Mhz......
The FSB should be 133MHz (or DDR266) but that doesnt stop the RAM from running at 166MHz (or DDR333/PC2700) ... everything's good! Quit stressing :D
