Heard AMD is releasing a new chipset next year for the Piledriver. Seems kinda confusing being like the Phenom II X6 processor naming.
AMD 1070
AMD 1090X
AMD 1090FX

Didnt hear anything about a new Southbridge.
 
So basically the same chipset as 800/900 with minor changes? They could at least improve some things or give it a different name.
 
Yeah it just looks like a name change. But really the Northbridge only controls the PCIe lanes, but its still not PCIe 3.0. Unless something changes before its released. AMD needs to move the PCIe lanes to the CPU and get rid of the Northbridge. But then it does give AMD the option to sell boards with different amount of PCIe lanes. Single 16 or 8/8 or 16/16.

On Softpedia they said it will natively supports six SATA 6 and USB 3.0. But the funny thing is, they run of the Southbridge, not the Northbridge. But they never said what the Southbridge will be called. My guess would be the 1050.
