AMD conspiracy?

I plan on building a new system soon and every computer forum I visit people are telling everyone to go with amd, even when users specifficly say they want to build a system using a intel cpu. And 98% of the users on these computer forums have an AMD cpu, so they say. Does everyone like work for AMD? Lol!
I thought intel was the king of cpus? I read on one computer fourm a user saying you would have to be an idiot to use an intel cpu. Is intel really that bad?
Well, I have a choice between an AMD dualcore x2 3800 and a Intel dualcore 830 3.0. Which one should I get? Isn't the intel faster?

well intel is faster but when it comes to the ghz
but amd is fatser or more powerful in the way it prosses the info for like games and stuff
and u see most the people here play games and so they want the best

so when ur looking for cpus u have to think about what u want speed or power
*and u see most compaines like dell use intel cuz there are cheaper than amd*

well, intel still sell the largest amount of cpu's because of all the manufacturer's putting intel cpu's in their systems. however, recently amd has started to pull ahead in the performance stakes and has started to gain popularity.
with regards to your question i found a couple of reviews using google and they said that the athlon is the quicker of the 2 cpu's.
also, the intel chip has the higher clockspeed so but it doesn't perform as well as the amd chip

ok, first to sort things out, AMD has the best CPU on the market for now, and it beats Intel in every way there is, not for much though, second, they are both excelent companies, third, yes Intel CPU's are performing at higher clock speeds but that doesnt matter becouse AMD has different CPU structure so it doesnt have to perform at a high frequency, if u ask me I would go with AMD dual core of course

deffinetly go with the AMD X2 3800+, the AMD X2 series is the best out there, none of intels mainstream cpu's can beat them.

i agree with the above statements, AMDs dual core is much better than Intels dual core, give intel some time and they should pick it up but for now AMd is the better processor between the 2 intel just needs to start working on their dual cores a little more they have been lacking in that, and apple is going to start using intel cpus now also so they are still a good company just a little behind in dual core

A big reason why AMD's dual cores are better is because both cores can communicate directly with each other, where the Intel Pentium D has to communicate via the Front side bus, which makes it slower.

Not since Intel's Northwood Pentium 4 core has Intel really been performance-competitive with AMD. These days, the majority of Pentium 4s are just not very interesting. They are too hot, more expensive and under-performing compared to their AMD counterparts. And while Intel continues to have the lowest price on an entry-level dual core processor, the rest of their desktop product line is made up of processors that can't really be recommended

Agreed, the P4's have been out for several years now, and when they first came out their competitor was the AMD Athlon XP series, and they were struggling to hit 2Ghz. So intel had the fastest chip then, but within the past few years, AMD has produced the Sempron line, FX line, and the Athlon 64 line, while intel is still on its P4 line. Although there have been some major revisions on the P4, its still a P4.

That would be a non-helpful forum whose members only care about supporting their opinions rather than helping out others. I wouldn't suggest going back...

Does everyone like work for AMD?

I wish, could get some serious hook ups lol.

In sales and marketing Intel is the king. How many Intel commercials do you see daily? Compare that to how many AMD commecials you see...hardly any.

The guy who said you'd be an idiot to buy Intel, is the idiot himself. He's obviously full of biased statements and can't get his head out of his arse long enough to realize that Intel sells more CPU's than AMD does on a daily basis, and also makes fine products. But for users like us who want to game and overclock and get the best bang for our buck, AMD is usually our pick.

Well, I have a choice between an AMD dualcore x2 3800 and a Intel dualcore 830 3.0. Which one should I get? Isn't the intel faster?

Well, the 3800+ is roughly the smae price as the 830. The 3800+ outclasses the 820 CPU on almost every level, so I'm going to make an assumption that it is on par with the 830 CPU on almost all levels. Remember though (as apj101 said) that the AMD's use alot less power, and they run cooler. This can make fo better overclocking if you're interested.

Fo the same price, and (i thnk) same performance, it's a hard decision. Remember if you choose Intel LGA775 that you'll probably need DDR2 for optimal performance which can end up costing you alot compared to AMD's s939 and standar DDR. Your choice.

The X2 3800+ is slightly better than the 830 in general, but it does depend on what you're doing with the computer (unlike some of the higher end processors, where AMD wins in every catagory).

Here's a great review comparing the AMD X2 to Intel Dual Core processors: http://reviews.cnet.com/4520-10442_7-6389077.html

I think a lot of inexperienced users just assume that Intel is better than AMD because they sell more processors, but I would agree with everyone else - Intel isn't really competitive at the moment, particularly with Dual Core CPUs.

Agreed, and im sure many people go with Pentium D's because there cheaper than AMD, and they probably think there just as good.

Gotta love these questions.

If you are planning on doing a lot of gaming and want the best bang for your buck, then AND is definately the way to go.

If you are going to do heavy number-crunching, photochopping, CAD, and the like, then Intel is your friend.

As has already been mentioned, things change on a continual basis in the computer world, but up to now, those two generalizations have been solid for some time.

That doesnt really flow with the Dual Cores, since the AMD X2 series beats intel at everything, from gaming to video encoding.

Yea i personaly like AMDs much better then INTEL. AMDs are cheaper and way faster! At least for me they are. I love them. If AMD was i girl, i would totaly marry it :)

now that just aint right :P

AMD chips actually run CAD faster than Intel.

They are both good, AMDs processors just perform better. Slap two Athlon64 cores together and 2 prescott cores together you don't get something new. Now that newly designed cores are comming out things will get interesting.
