Hi, I am currently looking to buy my first good Pc, i need it for basic game design for my high school and 6th form courses and home gaming. The two computers I have narrowed to down to are:

And
http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/35066...233{500-599.99}+ae60{AMD+FX}+&urlrefer=search

But i do not really know what one is best for what i need, they are both in my budget also.

Thanks for any help anyone can give :)

My advice to you would be to build your own. For that price you could put together a much nicer system. I could draw up a list of components if you wanted?

Neither.

This one

It has a superior intel I5 processor and also a better graphics card, the GTX650 which easily beats a 6670. The 7770 card in the first one might be a hair better but not by much and not worth getting over the gtx 650 when the I5 CPU is that much better.

Hmm ok yeah I missed that. No wonder it seemed like such a good deal.

Well in that case, the first choice is a lot better than the second. The 7770 is a lot better than a 6670, and the 8120 is much better than the 4170.

Yeh, but he said he's willing to build it himself, so he can get better parts. Maybe an i5 with an hd7850 should be best then.

Hi, sorry i haven't replied for a while. my old laptop crashed so i'm borrowing my mates for a few mins haha.
To be honest, i have just found another rig which i could easily upgrade the CPU on to any of the AMD 3+ socket cpu's costing up to about £130. How about this one guys and gals?

To me it looked good but i'm not very good with things sometimes and often get ripped off, hence me asking again :(

Thanks for all the help so far by the way, i am taking it all into consideration :)

Theres a few problems with that PC. First it has a bulldozer chip which are crap. The results from gaming benching put the i5 way ahead. The whole bulldozer series wasn't good at all. Second the 6670 is old. I used to have a 6870 and that wasn't good enough for my needs. If you want my advise it would be to build with the parts I linked you - you honestly wont be disappointed. If you need to save a bit more money go for an i3 chip over a bulldozer. If you HAVE to go with a prebuilt one go for one of these:

Few things:

1. Bulldozer chips can game just fine, you are high and/or haven't used any of them if you think otherwise. Stop looking at a webpage with some bars on and start using the hardware yourself

2. You can overclock the AMD chips. You can't overclock an i3, so compare like for like as much as you like, if you are after just performance, the AMD chips dance all over the Intel, even if they draw more power and produce more heat in doing so.

3. Novatech are, for the most part, awful, in terms of price and, when compared to other retailers, in terms of service. Go and compare yourself some prices. As an example, that £180 3570K:

Aria - £162

Overclockers - £168 (this week only)

Scan - £168

Ebuyer - £174

Dabs - £173

Amazon - £165

4. If you are going pre-built, Any of the retailers above would be better than Novatech, and

http://www.chillblast.com/Chillblast-Fusion-Elixir.html

Would be better than any of the pre-builts so far.

To compare it to the system you just posted OP, it will blow it out of the water

1. Intel games better, FACT. Games load faster, and you have more steady FPS. And yes I speak from experience.
2. I linked to I5 not I3's. Sandy/Ivy bridge I3's suck. Only clarksdale were good I3's for gaming because you could easily overclock the piss out of them 4.4ghz+.

Thank you so much Aastii, i believe that pre-built will be the one i go for for the time being :) Much appreciation for everyone who has helped me out with this

1. Not from benching but from playing, 0 difference was seen, also from experience ;)

2. The i3's are amazing chips. to be honest I was expecting mine to be ok, as I bought it simply as a filler but was amazed at the performance of it. For gaming, it can tear through anything at all

Did it sound like I was talking about benching? I said, maps load faster and FPS it more steady typically from what I've found. If you've found otherwise, you haven't been playing any CPU intensive games.

I3's game well, I5's game WAYY better than I3's.

Never had a problem with them myself. In fact, their customer service is really very good indeed. I've sent back multiple items which have gone faulty and they have replaced them very quickly and free of charge for me, and I usually tend to get next day delivery when I haven't even paid for it. Dabs on the other hand appear to be very slow to post items indeed. Ordered a powerline network adapter from them on Sunday 16th, it's now Saturday 22nd and it still hasn't come. They didn't even post it until mid week.

i3 is a great little gaming chip. Used a 2120 paired with a 560 Ti in a build I did a year ago. Works absolutely perfectly, for £89 you cannot do better.
