AMD FX 6100 vs. AMD Phenom II X4 955

The phenom is still a pretty good cpu, but I would go with an FX6300 since it's newer, bit faster, has more logical cores and you're probably able to upgrade to the next line FX cpus that come this year. The phenoms are a dead end...

Don't know so much about dead end. For the most part AM3 cpu works with AM3+ mb, so the cpu would still be upgradable to Vishera/new release. I know you know that-

The Fry's Zambezi deal, altho less than if purchased separately, isn't worth it.
Since 4300 and 6300 are so close in price(aside from A10), 6300 is only real AMD option in that price range. How does 965 compare to 6300? Depends on use, not benchmarks, and budget/what could be done for other hardware with any saved $. Sometimes, as in right now I think, the 965 is $55 less than 6300.(stateside)

The FX6300 will be on stock and overclocked a bit faster, since it overclocks better and is higher clocked (not that that always matters) in stock.
Singlethreaded is better and multithreaded is pretty much better.

The 6100 WILL run just fine.. I have one in a friend's build. However, that being said, I really wouldn't recommend it. The vishera builds are much more reliable. If you can spring the extra money, just go all out and get the 8350. Why not? Yeah, it's more money, but in the end, it'll last longer.

If not, get the 6300. It's only like, 20 bucks more. I don't care how tight your budget is. If you can afford 20 dollars more, go sell your fish or beg on the street.

You can get FX 8320 for the same price, just keep an eye out @ Gadgetar. I would definately go with the FX series.
