The AMD FX-8120 and AMD FX-8150 seem to be the same CPU to me. Is there some hardware feature that makes one superior to the other or is the only difference that the 8150 has been factory overclocked and the 8120 has not?

Pretty much got it. Its clocked at a higher ghz. I'd never go for the 8150 over the 8120, unless of course it was cheaper.

nope they are exactly the same chip...
you could get a 8150 that clocks higher, or an 8120 that clocks higher then any 8150.
you must have some luck with that.

you can maybe just clock a 8120 to the 8150 speed.

Yeah, they use the same coolers i'm pretty sure so you could probably buy the 8120 and stick it at 3.6Ghz no problem.

Go for the 8150 if you don't want to overclock.
But GO WITH THE 8120 if you want to overclock it.

Don't spend your money on 8150 if you can overclock it yourselve.

I've just started with the whole overclocking and I use a FX-8120 at 3.8Ghz So far I'm stable and I have no heating problems at all. 2 hours into a stress test and only hitting temps of 36-39c using a corsair water cooling system.

I would just go with the 8120 because it's very easy to learn how to oc it seems.
