AMD making up cpu loss with ati???

Since amd isn't doing any good against intel(or for now) do you think that ati is helping the stay in business. It seems like the 3xxx series(well the top ones) are selling good because of there price:performance ratio. Seems like alot of the people ive seen are buying 3870 and cheaper 3850. Doesn't seem like nvidia made much of a advance with the 9800 lol. Also the 3870x2 seems not to bad for the price. So to ME it seems like ati is winning against nvidia in the midrange. So if you agree and think they are, do you think amd is making up there losses to intel?

It's all about the market percentage.I dont think ATI's graphic card got higher market share than the time of X1800series.All I can tell till now is that ATI/AMD's 2xxx series lost for sure and then AMD has to release the 3850/3870 before their original plan.
Dont you think it's so alike the situation on video game consoles?MS XBOX lost to the SONY PlayStation2 so they gotta release XBOX360 about one year before PlayStation3.But it's hard to say if XBOX360 can beat PlayStaion3 for final just like 3800&9800.
The earlier one takes market share quickly for a certain time while the later got high tec spec obviously.who will win?Hell know.

i would say yea probably.
not many people are buying AMD anymore only us die hard AMD fans that wont touch intel, like me.
even like 50% of AMD fans have changed to intel.
but to all u AMD fans just hold it out we will be back on top one day, the intel people had to do it when AMDs single cores where kicking arse.

Yeah when i rebuild my current comp(its a emachine with a amd single core lol) and i get a new motherboard im gonna get a amd one lol. Im just hard core fan lol. But back on topic, it really is like whatever comes out first gets the market share...at first. Just like when vista, the phenom quad,OR xbox360 they all came out quicker. They also all have problems(but thats normal with a OS :P) Like the quad core phenom, It has a few problems(but when they fix em thats what ill buy :D) The 360 is having some real problems. But no, not the ps3 :D. So it seems like whatever is out first has some problems, and whatever comes out later can learn from those problems. But the 38XX aren't really having any problems. But you know the hard core nvidia fans will have the 9800 on its launch day!

Actually, no.. AMD has absolutely no interest in ATi. They've already dismantled most of it. They bought ATi for the fabs and the tech, not the graphics card industry.

Plus they wanted there own motherboard chipset (there own sucked) instead of having to rely on ATI (before they bought them)Nvidia-VIA and SIS. Heard they went after Nvidia first but got blew off.
