AMD or Intel (sorry if you've been asked this before)

Just wondering what people's opinion are on AMD or Intel processors. If your were buying a store made computer for the first time what would you choose?

I've always had Intel in desktops and laptops, I never had AMD, so which do you prefer in general?
 
If you're on a budget, AMD processors are better for the money. My 635 was $100 and it flies through everything.

If you're benchmarking a lot, Intel CPU's tend to score higher than their AMD equivalent, but again the AMD equivalent costs a fair bit less.

You say store built, do you mean a custom machine built buy a store or an OEM machine like Dell, HP, Acer etc etc
