AMD or Intel?

Ok im having a little trouble deciding whether or not i should get an AMD or an Intel CPU. Are the GHZ for AMD and Intel the same or is AMD's considered higher. Which one is better, and would you guys prefer.

Here are my options:

AMD Athlon64 X2 4400+ Dual Core Processor

Intel Pentium D Dual Core 950 LGA 775 3.40 GHz HT

Please help me decide.
 
willing to wait a short while? not long till conroe i believe. Unless the release dates have been changed
