I just installed it and turned on my computer I am running Vista 64 at full power in power options. The temp on this thing is 46c at idle. I am starting to question if I have the fans put on right. Are the side fans suppose to be sucking the air out or blowing in? same thing with the 120mm fan?

Did you use the stock thermal paste (the stuff that comes with an original equipment manufacturer already glued on the heat sink)?

It takes the thermal paste time (I think a week to two weeks) to cure and seal the processor to the heat sink so it transfers heat properly.
You don't want the processor heatsink fan and case fans to be pushing air against each other. I have my rear case fan blowing air in to my case. It depends where your heatsink fan is blowing to where you would put the side case fans as you want to aid the processor heatsink fan airflow.

Just how much thermal paste did you use? It tends to be very deceptive in how much you really need, many users recommend a pea-sized glob, but I've heard less than that even. If you applied more than this, try less, with too much, it just insulates the processor, which is obviously not good.
The paste is just for filling in the imperfections between the CPU shield and heatsink,(not as a layer between them) sounds like your using to much. Just put the amount of a small grain of rice in the middle. Spread it out thin and even over the CPU shield, then install the heatsink.
