I have a AMD Phenom II X4 940 3Ghz CPU on an Asus M4N78 Motherboard. After playing any game for a certain amount of time my system locksup and I can't do any thing, the keyboard and mouse stops responding, the sound is looped and all I can see is the last image that was rendered.

It doesnt log any errors in the event viewer either.

Would anyone know why I get lockups during games? It hasnt locked up other than when I'm playing games.

The program says my CPU temp has a low of 57 and a high of 60. This is while I have a game running.

X-Fi Sound Card

Running Windows XP Pro 32Bit

What kind of heatsink are you using..??

Either get your temp idle temps from your bios or download AMD Overdrive this has always been reliable as far a temps go.. this should be under 60c at max and at idle be in the 40's or 30's.

If this checks good try resetting the bios..

Also give more specs on your machine would help (type of MEM, MB, PSU, etc.)
