AMD Quad overclocking

A friend of mine built a computer recently at Micro Center because his parents wanted a "trusted company" , and, well, they didn't do something I guess. The processor speed is below what stock is set to, and he has no clue how to get it back up. Neither do I. Copy and pasted from his AIM:

nstanton18: it says my processor is running at 1.1
nstanton18: it says i need at least 1.5
nstanton18: and it says my max is 2.2
nstanton18: and then it says go to start control panel
nstanton18: hardware and sound
nstanton18: then power options
nstanton18: but nothing from there makes sense with increasing my processor speed

Any help would be great. Either post telling me how to fix it, or just send him an instant message. Thanks.

why would they set it below stock, that sounds very strange to me.

Not sure..but he paid $700 for the computer, and I saw on Teamviewer that is was actually a quad core. I doubt any QC out there runs at 1.1.

He said he called Circuit City and they said they would fix it, and take off all the trials and such for $70.

you will have to go in the bios and change the multiplier..just hold down delete when you boot it up and you will get the bios screen...1st go to advanced cpu options.(usually as option for manual settings put it there) and put the multiplier at 11.5 i believe is stock for a phenom Quad..make sure the ht link is a 9 ... then save and reboot . if that dont work get back to me :D another note you can use AMD Overdrive to change the settings but they go back to what it was before after reboot..

There is no option in the control panel to change your CPU speed. I assure you though, that you have the correct speed, it's just in power saving mode whenever you look at the specs.

cool n quiet is a pain like that, anyway why are people buying slow AMD's when there is nice and fast intels out there?

Never makes sence to me

If you disable the cool n quiet in the bios that will show you if that is giving you the problems

Yep..I told him I would build him a computer. When he first told me what he got for $700, it sounded nice. But, once I looked at his computer on Teamviewer, it was terrible. In his display adapters it shows "9400GS+8300GSE" or some garbage. Wtf? There are two of them, also. He was pretty sure that there is something in SLI, but I have no clue what..
