AMD releasing a 200 Watt processor?

Is Advanced Micro Devices going to release a Vishera core processor that is clocked at 4.7 gigahertz and consumes 200 Watts per hour?

I heard it is going to be called the FX-9590.

If it is true I don't even see how that is practical because it would run so hot. I have seen AMD release 140 Watt processors. Some versions of the Phenom 9950 and the Phenom II 965 were 140 Watt.

I heard that they are going to be releasing both of those processors with an all in one WC system to deal with the heat. Looks to be close to the H80. Too bad I can't find my source :(

This is already old news, it was officially announced 2 weeks ago.
It will only be available for system integrators, so it will probably be used in gaming machines and most of the time these "gaming pc's" are well cooled.
Sources everywhere, they should be very expensive too.
But I can image it's a great win for AMD to only sell it too system builders.
Because people with no computer knowledge buy these prebuilds, they see: "WTF, 5GHz, that's fast!"

To much, it runs on socket AM3+. Would not run it on a board with less then a 8+2 power phase with a cooler on the mosfets.

they are currently only supposed to be OEM only, meaning you can't just buy one unless someone puts them up on ebay

I cannot believe any end User would pay over $350 for any central processing unit. You can get a really good processor for $350. $1,000 is just too much to spend.
