AMD to challenge Intel's Atom?

I have seen about half a dozen new ultra-mobile, "internet" notebooks come out recently, all featuring the Intel Atom 1.6 ghz processor. Right now, Intel has a monopoly on the rapidly growing UMPC market, and I'm wondering when AMD will come out and offer its competition.

I'm hoping either company will produce a more powerful processor that is still light on battery use.

Who knows, I think nvidia is working on their own CPU. IMHO, Atom CPUs are not fit for netbooks. Netbooks should start using the Intel ULV CPUs, which are MUCH faster than the atoms, and still doesn't use much power.

oh man, sorry not tryin to turn this into a bashing thread but. . ya you cant just add em like that cores work independently for the most part and. . you spelled intelligence wrong ha

And you use bad grammar lol, what does it matter?

Back on topic, I think the atom is used more for cost effectiveness than performance.
