AMD vs Intel

I was just thinking, if you had 2 processors which performed equally, 1 amd and the other Intel, surely the AMD would be better because they have faster fsb's?. Good Intels seem to be 1333mhz and AMD are 2000mhz.

Im posibbly simplifying it

i dont get it

if they performed equally how could one perform better

if they did preform equally amd would be better though cause it's cheap

If by perform equally, you mean same clock rate, such as 3ghz, correct? If so, then it would depend on the CPU. Let's say you had a core 2 duo at 3ghz against an athlon x2 at 3ghz. The intel would win. Though their clock speeds are the same, intel chips are more effecient and thus faster.

Another example of intel having better chips is that a core 2 quad intel at 2.4ghz is faster than a quad phenom amd at 2.5ghz.

Between a Athlon 64/Core 2. If the processors were equal, then yes the AMD has a advantage because of the Hypertransport and a onboard memory controller.

But the new i7 has the same.
