AMD VS Intel

I like to put it as ford and chevy. Amds can do anything intels can do but amd is cheaper. It all depends on what you rockin. You just really need to ask yourself. Do you want to spend a lot of money on a computer just to say you spend that much money
? Or do you want to spend only what you need to get the job done?

Actually, unless your gaming the core i7 has quite a leap over the phenom II's. For gaming they are pretty even though.

You can get the amd chip to do whatever the i7 will pretty much. But the real question is, Is that extra.... Go fast booting up programs or whatever you say the i7 will do faster.... Worth the price?

Not really...especially considering the i7 has 8 threads, faster for stuff like photoshop, transcoding video or audio. Only place they are even is in gaming.

do more research on this topic, but AMD vs intel is too broad and you'll have fanboys coming and swearing by either one. to try to be as non-biased as possible: when you're looking at very high end chips, AMD can't compete with intel yet. however, looking into the budget and mid-range area, AMD is a better value.

just do your research and think of what you want to do with the machine,go from there :D Never go in a forum and say AMD or Intel them are fighting words around here lol

Low Budget - AMD

Big Budget - Intel

Is the way its gonna be for a while. Though the new Phenom II is a big step forward to AMD ruling again. They just have to bring out something to compete with the I7.

Without doubt intel has the best processor for home and office use....!

Depends on what you're going to be doing at home or at an office. Usually it would be a waste of money to go with Intel if you're just going to use your computer casually at home.

For casual use, I completely agree. For someone that browses the web, uses email and basic productivity apps, a Phenom II, for example, is more than adequate. You don't need 4 CPU cores w/ hyperthreading to use Firefox or office apps. ;)
