AMD vs Intel

What type of processor is better for gaming? AMD or Intel? Also what are the advantages and disadvantages of each? thanks
 
you guys should still answer it,,,
at this momment amd, x2 series, or opterons or fx series are still better than people owned intel cores... like pentium D.

but soon conores are going to be released by intel, and the stats show that the conores are much better than even the best core from amd.
meaning, in about couple of days, intel will have the best gaming cpu...

and amd will be forced to drop their prices, which they are starting to do on some well known cores like x2 series,,,
about 50% drop i saw..
 
Its always been the same. AMD works better with gaming in general while Intel works better with multi-tasking using editing software of any kind or basic apps.

That happened the day before, and yesterday, respectively. AMD dropped all their prices, not just the X2s.

Well not anymore, the Intel C2D runs circles around AMD in any task.
 
I currently have the processor that came in my computer its an Intel Pentium 4 1.7GHz 478 socket. What would be a good cheap upgrade processor that would give me more speed. I do a bit of everything but mainly gaming. thanks!
