Hello Chaps!:D
According to what I have read regarding the AMD athlon xp3000 CPU (AXDA 3000DK4D) it should be 2.167 GHz. Can anyone explain why under properties for my computer it says that it`s only 1.3 GHz ?

have tried overclocking it? often attempts to overclock a CPU can make it revert to a much lower clock speed as a safety mechanism. If it has always been like that then you can try going into your BIOS and seeing if there are any options for your CPU or you can check to see if it says the CPU is the correct clock speed or not.

I recommend you download a program called CPU-Z and take a screenshot of the first tab, it shows the information of your cpu and will help us diagnose what exactly is wrong.

To take a screenshot:
make sure that the CPU-Z window is your active window
hit ALT + Print Screen (usually above the delete and insert keys)
open up Paint (mspaint to be exact)
hit ctrl + V (this is the hotkey to paste)
the screenshot of CPU-Z should be there
just save it as a jpg and upload it onto http://imageshack.us/
then just paste in the link

I'm sorry for treating you as if you know nothing about computers but it is what I do to make sure no one misunderstands my directions.

You probably have cool n quiet enabled. It back clocks the CPU when its not under load.

try doing something cpu-intensive and then quickly looking at the speed. as soon as the processor sees a load, it ups the speed to accomodate the process. when it downclocks your not seeing any decrease in performance.

It will depend on the speed of the memory you are running as well as the fsb setting in the bios there. When lowering the fsb from 200mhz down to 166mhz the cpu listed will be seen as a slower model. If you are running PC2700 DDR333 or PC2100 DDR266 memory on a board that supports PC3200 DDR400 memory that will also backclock the Socket A cpus.

With the fsb set to 166 the XP3200 will be seen as an XP2500 1.67ghz model when actually a 2.21ghz cpu. On one older build here it was simply a board that ate batteries where the system wouldn't run at the 200mhz fsb setting due to weak battery on the board. You could have a weak one there causing the exact same thing and simply need to toss in a fresh battery on the older board you have there.

The information on the 3000+ as well as 2800+ and 3200+ models is seen at http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/ProductInformation/0,,30_118_1260_3734%5E11672,00.html
