what processor is better for gaming?

AMD Athlon 64 FX55 1GHz FSB Socket 939 Processor

or

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ 1GHz FSB Socket 939 Dual Core Processor

or the 4600+ or 4800+ lol

Thanks.

If you have any good AMD gaming mobos in mind give me options. Thanks

The FX-55 would be better at gaming now, and would overclock higher due to having unlocked multis. But as soon as games start being multithreaded (som already are), the dual core chips will beat it. In other words get the dual core lol.

For the motherboard, whats your budget? Planning to overclock? Crossfire or SLi?

My budget is infinite lol...I plan to overclock sometime but I'm not really sure how to. I'm not sure if i'm going to crossfire or sli..i was just planning to get the ATI x1900xt and leave it at that. But right now I only have the ATI x800xl. Is ATI good on AMD mobos? It will be nice to have crossfire and sli just in cause. I just want a really nice mobo with a lot of features..i've been looking at ASUS mobos they are nice.

Well if you're getting an x1900xt, then I think for upgradability Crossfire would be the best option. How about the DFI Lanparty UT RDX200 CF-DR? If you want to go with Asus, the A8R-MVP is a nice option as well.

The ASUS A8R-MVP is arguably the nicest corssfire board out now, (the DFI RDX-200 has more overclocking features but its buggy). If you can wait, ASUS is going to be releasing the A8R32-MVP, based off the new RD580 chipset and suporting 16 lanes of SLi. But the A8R-MVP is good if you dont feel like waiting.

EDIT: No, SLi wont interfere with ATi cards.

Also even though the processor is good...the fact that the ram on AMD mobos is DDR not DDR2 like INTEL boards..does that change anything?

AMD CPUs don't have an FSB. Read CPU101.

You'd have to wait for the AM2 socket to come out for DDR2. There isn't too much of a performance gain using DDR2 over DDR anyways.
