AMD's Mantle

It has always been possible, but wont happen. Developers wont code for 2 or 3 different platforms (e.g. DX, Mantle, OpenGL). DX12 will still be the prevailing standard.

That's not at all what I mean by cross platform. With just Mantle, games can be played across different operating systems, which technically, you can do with OpenGL, but it was always all over the place with different versions, which held it back.

Many big name games are already supporting Mantle. It will definitely give DirectX 12 a run for its money.

Developers still need to code for it. This simply wont happen. DX12 will trump mantle. Once DX12 comes out, watch Mantle dissappear.

Do you have anything to support this at all or is this just speculation? You state it like it's a fact, and you very well could be right, but you can't just say it and expect us to believe you without something to back it up.

Basic understanding that it costs significant resources to change or add extra development time. DX is well understood and once DX overcomes its single threaded issues, it is likely to perform as well as mantle. Therefore the cost/benefit of mantle disappears. Basic economics.
