An Xbox 360 Mod?

My Xbox 360 DVD drive is on the fritz, again, and the only place where I can buy the exact model of my DVD drive, is on eBay, and the sellers are all from Hong Kong.. So I would be spending around $40 for the drive itself, and around $20 for shipping, so I'd be spending around $60 for something I'm entirely sure is the problem..

Now with Xbox 360's being new for under $200, I could very easily pick one up for myself, but I'd be left with a semi working Xbox 360.


I'd pick up another Xbox, if I found something useful to do with this one.




Any ideas?
 
I can't find a legit matching Xbox 360 DVD drive. One of my friends is saying any 360 drive will work, while my other friend, who runs his own Xbox 360 modding site, says it would be better if I get a matching drive.


I don't want to spend $30-$50 on something that I'm not sure if it'll work.
