Anandtech benchmarks Intel Conroe.

shoot me..... shoooooot me noooow!!!! i was only expecting like a 10% increse.... :'( Please AM2.... PLEASE!!!
 
You dont ALWAYS have to take an AMD chip you know ;)

I know... AMD is great and all, but there's nothing wrong with Intel either. And, did they mention price(I just skimmed over performace numbers) AMD much be MUCH more affordable, as they usally are.
 
Hehe yet you see most everyone around here swear by the AM2 like nothing else, maybe it's because they're young and got interested in computers this last few years, not aware of how things used to be. But when dealing with hardware, things regulary turn. Therefore, swearing by one brand is always dumb.

But, neither of the chips is here yet, both sides will probably improve.

It's sad to see people sticking by one brand, just becase they think that they have always been the performance leader.

Learning a little bit about computer history never hurt anyone, and has always benefitted the people who have read a bit about it, you know?
 
dude... im sending that to everyone in the comp club at my school. DAMN... i knew it would be better :) probably going to be HUGE PRICE considering that performance though! think... athlon X2 fx-60 at WHAT PRICE?? intel's performs better.... so theyre going to WHAT?? charge like 2 billion kajillion lol

yea, as tweaker said theyre not here... but just wait til they are! :)
 
Ouch.. that processor is going to hurt AMD... I hope AMD comes up with something though! If this processor holds up, then amd fans will go for that processor.. then amd will come out with something crazy.. then we all go buy that... blah!! Trend never ends :P

Finally Intel made a good processor.

I wonder what happened to their "more MHz is better" thinking. Now they are kicking their own ass since thats how they used to and maybe still are, now their new chips are creaming their old ones
 
Keep these factors in mind....
AMD processors run hot, Intels run cool.
AMD Processors are cheap, Intel is not.
Inter has extreme multitasking abilities, AMD not so much...
So... Either way it goes im in the middle.

I have a comp with an Intel pent 4 1.6ghz and one with an AMD athlon64 3700+ 2.4ghz..

I can honestly say my Intel has better muiltitasking.
But the AMD owns with games.

this is why Ku-sama is saying "shoot me now", AMD will have to pull something serious with AM2 to catch up to this

1. Since when? did we all forget about presshoottttt.
2. Are we overlooking something. FX-60 costing over 1,000 USD AMD, can be just as expensive as intel.
3. X2 can blow away intel in most multitasking benchmarks.

AMD runs hot.. riiight, and the Prescott is the coolest running CPU ever created.

AMD might be cheaper, look at the FX and Opteron lines and tell me the same thing.
