As of now, the AM2 is actually slower than its S939 counterparts, mainly due to the integrated memory controller, which doesn't support DDRII-800 just yet.

Even if the AM2 processors supported the DDRII-800, it wouldn't have enough performance increase to beat the Conroe, many people seem to think.

Which is why the P4 3.6GHz never ran at its specified speed with the stock cooler, due to speed throttling when it got too hot?
