ancient computer issue?

ok, I have a really old Packard Bell Legend that won't run. Mostly I want it for nostalgia and solitaire. anyways, it boots from dos, and you have to do the "win" type thingy to get into windows, but when I start it up it says:
bootup system not found press F1 to retry and F2 to run setup (actually it's bioss setup)

. I've tried three diferent hdds on it, and I would really like it to run.
suggestions?

Depending on the original setup the bios itself may have lost NVRam info or not fully detecting the drives you are trying to use. With Packard Bell being a long lost cousin to Compaq you would probably not find an updated flash for the bios itself to in order to recognise the newer designed ATA controllers cards seen on the drives themselves. There are a few other items like drivers for the system board itself that would have to go on along with recovery partition info. Search the web for anything there would be advised.
 
well, when I put a floppy in the drive it won't boot, and yes the floppy drive is loaded to the bios. It used to work, but all of a sudden it shutdown, I think when I tried to upgrade to 95 a while back, and It said OS not found, when I ran the recovery floppy it wouldn't boot, so I tried to reload windows 3.1, that's when this started happening (these may be slightly wrong it was a while ago) also i'm not great with computers, I know some but not everything, could you tell me how to load the drive to the bios (I may be doing it wrong) if you want any specifics about the computer don't hesitate to ask
