Annoying high pitch beep

I have a Mag Innovisions 19" Widescreen LCD as my second LCD monitor. It was perfect in the USA, running on 110v, but now im in the UK, running it off 240v, when its in power save mode, it produces a high pitch beep noise, and it goes high/low constantly, and the only way I can stop it is to turn the monitor off or keep the PC on constantly, which is not an option since its like a heater :D

Does anyone know what could be causing this dead annoying beep?
 
an extra 130 volts? :D
i'm guessing you're using a power plug adapter, and that it's letting some excess voltage through.
I'm not too good with these things but it sounds like the monitor is getting too much power.
