Still sounds like it's a spyware/virus issue.
Run some antivirus programs first. Then if that doesn't resolve it, you might have to post up a HijackThis log.

It sounds more like an adware infection there. There's one place you can go to online for a free scan of your system. There's no registration required. Housecall by Trend Micro has this at http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

There arre some other free programs you can download like the AdAware SE Personal edition found at http://www.lavasoft.com Grisoft recently bought out Ewido and has released their new AVG Anti-Spyware Free tool along with the latest updated release of the AVG 7.5 free antivirus utility. There are available for immediate download at http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/lng/us/tpl/v5#avg-anti-spyware-free

If you want to post a log and do not have HiJack This you can download the free registry scanner at http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/programs.php

I'm trying that Trend Micro link out now. How good is it compared to other scans in your opinion?

First you will need to have Java installed. If you don't it will bring you right to a page where you have to choose one of three links there. I went with the SUN Microsystems link. Then you download an antivirus installer for the 30day trial period of the program. Once it asked if I wanted AVG 7.5 removed I simply canceled the installation. If you are without any virus protection you can download it for a run and then go for AVG 7.5 Free edition or some other program.
