annoying problem with connection.

My friend has dial up, the internet is connecting and pages are working fine in one room (on a laptop) but in the other room (normal PC) it will connect but no pages will come up. Is this something to do with the firewall?

Do they both use the same connection or a different one individually.. i dont think you can split a dial up connection (unless you have an old router) How is the other pc connected to the internet?

They each use different phone points at different times, same ISP though.

Even though it actually connects to the internet? It's just nothing happens after that...
