annoying wireless with windows 7

Ok so I finally upgraded to windows 7 from xp. I had to get a new wireless adapter because the old one was not compatible with windows 7. So I got the netgear wna3100 because I've never had problems with my old netgear adapter. anyways...I hooked it up and it worked fine. I would get disconnected once and a while but it was rare. NOW, about 2 months in, I get disconnected CONSTANTLY...almost every 5 min. Whenever it happens, I troubleshoot and it fixes with the problem being 'default gateway unavailable'. I've tried everything from turning off the IPv6 to making sure that the computer wasn't turning it off to save power. I read somewhere that I should turn off the receive side scaling but, there's no option for that. I've also tried typing in the IP, SUBNET MASK and DEFAULT GATEWAY but nothing works. Please help. This is starting to get really frustrating. Should I try a new adapter or router?

I doubt if Win 7 is the issue, I have a number of laptops/netbooks and desktops that are running Win 7 that connect solidly to my router. Have you tried switching to a different wireless channel? There could be a device in your home or a neighbor's that is causing interference.

the linksys router is around 6 or 7 years old but I don't think that is the problem since this only started happening once I switched to Windows 7. How do I switch channels?
