Hello,

I've been assembling a brand new PC (haven't ordered anything yet), and since this is my very first time assembling one myself, I wouldn't mind getting all the help I can get. I'm pretty much limited to items that overclockers.co.uk have in stock, because I can't find any other decently stocked companies that ship to Denmark. These items add up to about £1500, which is also just around my max budget.
I will be using the computer for both gaming and music recording, although I'm using an external sound card for recording, so the internal sound card will mainly be used for gaming and music listening. Oh, and speakers I already have, so no need to mention those.

These are the parts I've settled on for now:

Processor: Intel Core i7 950 3.06 GHz
Motherboard: Asus P6T Deluxe v2 Intel X58
RAM: Corsair XMS3 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3
Case: Coolermaster CM-690 Dominator Case
Hard drive: Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 80GB
PSU: Corsair TX 750W ATX
Graphics card: Asus GeForce GTX 285 1024MB
DVD drive: Sony Optiarc AD-7200S 20x
Sound card: Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer
Monitor: Samsung SM2233BW 22"
CPU cooler: Noctua NH-U12P SE1366
Fan(s): Akasa AK-191-SM

Some of the specific things I'm concerned about are:
- Compatability. Do all the things fit together, or do some have the wrong inputs/chips/whatever?
- Case size. Would all those things fit into that case, or would I need a full tower?
- Oversights. Have I missed some items that I need to build a PC?
- Quality. Are all the items at least decent quality?

Any help, thoughts or comments are very very appreciated!

All looks very nice exept 2 things.

hard drive....Small,slow and doesnt have much cache, probably would hold back performance?

Case fans...Akasa are not very good quality...thats why theyre cheap.

i would change both of those poits i mentioned.

For your Operating system,Go with Windows 7 X64...free for a year.

Great choice on the case...look in siggy :)

You're right on the hard drive, I've changed my mind to this 500 GB one instead.

As for the case fans... I am pretty much at the limit of my budget, so I figured I would save some money on the fans, especially since the case has 3 fans installed already. But since you have the same case, maybe you could help me out on whether or not I would need extra fans in it? See, my last computer mainly died because of too little cooling, and I've tried to go a little overboard this time on cooling, so maybe the 3 fans that the case comes with is enough? Or should I get a few extra?
And if I should get some extra, what fans would you recommend then?

Imo i would just get an i7 920 and overclock it, the 950 isnt worth twice the price imo, plus free game:

1600mhz with better timings for cheaper:

Yeah i would just get the I7 920 like mentioned,its a beast.

As for your case question, nope not realy it doesnt need anymore fans as it already has an intake, exhaust and one at the side.

I did however add a spare 120mm to the top which i had lying around :)
