another formatting problem

Hey everyone,
I have 2 hard drives and I've been trying to format them. I got the backup formatted but then wasn't paying attention and wound up installing xp on the backup drive now too. And the problem I'm having now is that windows refuses to delete either partition or format either drive because there's setup files on both. I don't know what to do now.

Sounds like your doing it from within Windows. Boot to the CD/DVD, you'll have option to partition-format-install either drive

You mean like when i put the xp disk in and go through that at startup and i can do a clean install or repair or delete partitions. cause I've tried that.

If you're talking about something else can you explain better?

Search the internet for a Bootable Partition Magic disk. It could come in 2 floppies or one cd. Boot from it/them and format your partitions or manage them how you want.
Note: if you have trouble finding them, you could look for Partition Magic (the full application) and create the boot disks from the application.
