Hey, Still doing some looking around before i make the last step to ordering my gaming computer. Here is another build. Tell me what ya think about it.

I guess my question is -

Will this set up work?

In your opinion is this a solid gaming computer? - If not what can be upgraded?

My budget is 1400-1500, i've posted a couple other posts similar to this, but I really want to make sure i'm getting the absolute best deal I can for a gaming computer that will be custom made.

Your hard drive link is not working. What hard drive are you looking at?

I would go with the following motherboard over the board you picked:

GIGABYTE GA-890XA-UD3 ATX Motherboard - $120

OCZ makes poor quality DDR3 memory. There is also no need for 8 gigabytes of memory presently. 4 gigabytes is more than enough. Go with this DDR3 memory:

Everything but the RAM seems ok, though I don't know much about that mobo. Asrock boards are cheaper than their Asus counterparts for a reason, though. (same company)

As far as the RAM goes, don't get OCZ.

I dont know much about any of this. But if I can get a solid Mobo that will meet my needs then i'm in! the previous mobo was also asus and was 170.00 this one is only 120.00 not sure the difference tho >.>

Also for the video card, because i dropped the mobo and replaced the ram like you said i was able to pick this up as my videocard.

That hard drive is slower than a 7200 rotations per minute drive. I would get this hard drive:

Western Digital Caviar Blue WD10EALS 1 terabyte 7200 RPM 32 megabytes Cache Serial ATA Hard Disk Drive - $75

I also noticed you are buying a full tower. Those are awful big. Take a look at this tower:

Since you also have a large budget I would also recommend getting a solid state disk. The read speeds with a solid state disk are over twice as fast a hard disk drive. I would get the Western Digital 1 terabyte hard drive and also the following solid state drive:

Edit: Gigabyte makes some of the best motherboards on the market. You won't be sorry with that particular motherboard model. Mushkin also makes excellent quality RAM.

Agreed with the other parts, but why a caviar blue, of all things? Seems like a Spinpoint F3 would be both faster and cheaper.

edit: TS, are you sure you put the right link in the OP? The first motherboard is AsRock, not Asus. The difference between them isthat the Gigabyte is a 790X chipset, while the AsRock one is 890FX. The AsRock has the better chipset, but the Gigabyte has better build quality.

However, the only difference between the chips is that 790X can only crossfire at 8x/8x speed, while the 890FX can do full x16/x16 and then some. If you're not going to crossfire, the Gigabyte board will do fine.

I would probably recommend a GTX 460 1Gb here, a little cheaper than the 5850 and better performance too.

PSU is overkill but leaves room for upgradability.

Man, I understand you like the 460. But stick with facts instead of what you wish. The other day you said it was close and beat the 470 sometimes. Now your saying it has better performance then a 5850. True it might beat a 5850 if its overclocked in 1 or 2 out of 10 benchmarks by a hair.

But it not a better performance card then a 5850.

+1, 460 is a good card but not faster than the 5850. It is close for less though. It's best selling point is SLI performance.
 
One last check!

Just ordered my Mobo. Remember I an getting this computer for extreme gaming! The mobo I got is-

GIGABYTE GA-890XA- UD3 AM3 AMD 790X SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard.

Is this a awesome Mobo for gaming?
 
The GIGABYTE GA-890XA-UD3 can support a Phenom II 965 Quad-Core or a Phenom II Six-Core processor. It uses Double Data Rate 3 RAM. It can also handle the most modern video card. Using crossfire (using two video cards) may be limited, but if you were to have a very powerful video card it wouldn't matter. In my opinion it is a great motherboard to build a system around.
