lol i didnt think of the different version factor... *sighs* ....o well

im my opinion if you get the game and dont go out to a game shop and trade money for games then you have got the game illegally.

having said that i have a copy of bearshare on my pc, but its bought and i only use it to download freeware software, manuals, pdf's and documents

but is a bought copy of bearshare still illegal

dont any of you sleep

Well for starters, if you own the PC version, you're not allowed to download it, not sure where you heard about that but its not true. And im pretty sure that gives the answer to the second question too.

ya it does...but if thats how it all goes, then why are torrent sites (probly shouldnt name any) allowed to keep stuff like that being shared and uploaded?...couldnt the website operators just go through and delete it all?.. i mean it'd probly take some time to do, but doesnt make sense why theyre still allowed to keep it...

Technically all the torrent sites do is share a small file, they're not distributing the copyrighted files themselves, i think thats why they dont get closed down. They get threatened alot, one in particular, but nothing ever comes of it. Some torrent sites, especially private trackers, have a disclaimer saying something along the lines of "no members of any goverment nor any RIAA are allowed to view this website, if you are, then leave now."

You have to remember the torrent site just keeps trackers on there site, the actual torrent comes from users pc's.

as stated before it is just the trackers s othey are standing on the fine line of the law by not hosting the actual files themselves.

However they are to an extent encouraging the downloading of pirated material and are treading on hot coals with what they do. This is why so many sites are getting closed down (although they often reopen again with a slightly different name)

Torrents are currently being hit fairly hard by the legal community in an attempt to bring them down. I dont touch em meself, much prefer newsgroups (all above board downloads of course)

Yep :)

Although in retrospect, torrents are a very good idea. Not the illegal downloading, but the way they work, which is why companies such as NTL are working a way of allowing people to download TV programs and things of the sort via torrents. Infact, im sure quite a few big companies are working on this kind of thing with torrents.

yea, but is it normal that they download so slow??? cus i download at... around 10-20kbps... i do like 120kbps on limewire, and 220kbps on direct download

downloads depends on the seeders and leechers ratio, if tons of people are leeching and only a few seeders you will get slow speeds, lok for decent ratios.

This is why i find newsgroups better. always download at maximum speed for my line.
