Hei

I just would like to hear your oppinion on my hardware choice, first time building.

I didn't know how to choose much the harddrive, as i dont need anything fancy, also i am not sure if need more powerful powersupply and extra cooling.

Anyways, thanks for taking time to read this. Comments, crits welcome.

EDIT: I'm building it for 3d rendering, not gaming.

Just replace the X300 with the 7600GT if you want to have any gaming power.
he's rendering, not gaming. i suggest a cheap quadro, maybe one of these? or a firegl? i'm too lazy to pick one, just choose the one that fits your budget.

Yeah the quadro (or firegl) might be useful but thats depenedent on what kinda rendering work you're looking at and how heavy calibre it would have been

Well, bretty heavy rendering.
Atm I'm modeling various mustafar exteriors for a duel project. Later i have to render footages, so far I've needed only stills as previews during modeling.

Here are some of my work in progress:

All by me,
except this image(ILM):

and this revenge of the sith set:

So far been working on a slow laptop :/. 0,9ghz and 256mbram, 8mb video :) or 1,2ghz 512mb ram 64mb video laptop - not much better.

So the motherboard i had picked, would be waste of money, and the case?

Hei guys, I'm back, i have recieved the hardware parts. First time building, i hope i've done everything right, placing the heatsink was confusing for me a lot, but i finaly managed to get it like it sayd in manual(i hope it wont explode XD)
Also motherboard didnt want to fit properly with the back of case but i found a way.
But there are couple things i can't figure out:
I have installed the harddrive into case. Here:

First on the left is power wire, then its the red one(it says on hard drive it should be sata data) and then it says there should be jumper block(where i have drawn question mark). Do i need to have the third wire there?
Also the other end of the red wire(sata data?) goes to ''Sata 1'' socket?:

Lastly, i also didnt know what more wires to connect with the cd-rom drive:

I do have 3 wide cables, 1 for floppy, 1 for HDD(which i dont need with that harddrive what i have as i figured out) and 1 for cd rom. I cant find where the other end of the cd rom cable would go on motherboard. I see floppy one.
I figured its primitive_ide but i wasnt sure so i asked to be sure.
I guess kind of noob questions, but better to be sure :). The manual sayd to connect hhd cable blue end with mother board, black with harddrive or optical drive, what would the cd rom cable be for then(it has all ends black) ?

Hope you guys can help out here.

For the SATA- you dont need to attach any cables, you are good there. Except i cant tell where you have your SATA connected to the mobo- have that connected to one of the SATA_1-4 right above where you have it in the picture. The CDROM cable will have two ends that are different, figure out which end is the right one for your CDROM (a matter of pin positions, you will figure it out). As for connecting the CDROM, connect the other end to the IDE Master header on your mobo. Make sure your jumpers on your CDROM ar set to Master of Cable Select. That should do you.

Thanks.

So like this:

DSC00731.jpg

The labels say its Sata_1

I checked the cd cable, all 3 ends are same.

So I should connect one of the ends to the ''pri_ide'' (the blue one):

DSC00743.jpg

The manual mentioned that the blue end goes to the ''pri_ide'', the black should go to either optical drive or harddrive (slave device) and gray to harddrive( but that is HDD cable) But i should still use cdrom cable right?

One more thing :P, if i have 2x1gb ram memory, should i place them separetly, into a1 and b1 slot, or both to either b or a slots?
I have:
CORSAIR XMS 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit System Memory

Thanks again.

from the pic above, the memory is fine. put the cd-rom cable in the primary ide and plug the other end up to the drive.

thanks a lot.
Seems it should be complete now.

The motherboard has CHA2_FAN, CHA1_FAN, CHIP_FAN and PWR_FAN connectors, i have two big fans that have the wires that connect to this, i put front fan to chip_fan and rear big one to pwr_fan, should be ok? cha2 and cha1 left empty.

Thanks again.

Hei again.

I got today the monitor so I could finaly run the computer. Everything went well, I formatted and installed win xp pro - great so far!
Yet when i started putting the audio cable to connect my monitor with built in speakers to computer, the computer went off suddenly with strange sound(but no lightning etc)
Here, pointed with arrow, thats the line out one where i plugged the cable:

DSC00760.jpg

Did i do wrong connecting it first with pc? The other end was laying on the desk on book(coulnt be static electricity).
Anyways then i took it off, and pressed power button again later, it only starts for a moment, fans start and lights but then stops.
However the motherboard led light is green:

I also took all the connection off and reconnected in computer, aswell tried other socked on wall, still same, first time pressing power button, fans lights start, then stop, next time pressing even fans, lights dont start. Only motherboard green light as in above image.

Heres, I recorded the start up, I hope it helps:

Quicktime:

WMV:

I'm in shock, everything was so fine till that small audio cable :(
Please help me. Could it be powersupply fault, or is the motherboard?
