Another Thermal grease question

I just got in my AMD 3800+ and the stock heatsink and fan have a thermal pad. I have some thermal grease to apply because its suppost to be better. But when I apply, do I leave the thermal pad on the heatsink and then apply the grease to the cpu? Or do I have to remove the pad from the heatsink? Thanks.

I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to use thermal grease and a thermal pad together. Get rid of the thermal pad and just use the thermal grease(preferably Arctic Silver 5).

yeah remove the thermal paste from the heatsink first, rubbing alcohol and a lint free cloth is the best thing to get rid, just make sure its completely clean before putting the new arctiv silver on
