Another Upgrade

I had great success building my first PC a good 3 or 4 years ago following the advice of this forum. What I'm looking to do now is make a couple upgrades for the next generation of games coming out. My current box contains:

CPU Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 Wolfdale 3.16GHz Dual-Core Processor
Motherboard ASUS P5E LGA 775 Intel X38 ATX Intel Motherboard
Memory Patriot 4GB(2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)
PSU XIGMATEK MC NRP-MC651 ATX12V Ver.2.2 / EPS12V Ver. 2.92 650W
GPU 2 X SAPPHIRE 100242L Radeon HD 4850 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI

I haven't really stayed in the loop since building this so I really have no idea where to go with it. I'm not cheap, but not extreme either, so I'm hoping for some reasonable, good value upgrades. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

He means you have a dead socket motherboard. The 775 socket is dead. You would have to build a new system with an 1155 motherboard or go am3+ if going amd.

You could upgrade PS, GPU, and HDD. Those can be used on a newer platform. Might be better to just get all new and keep the current pc intact. Maybe sell it and build new.

agreed,

and for the gpu part, i think 2 4850's should be fine for a while shouldn't they, they're still pretty powerful i think, and 2 of them, anything under like a 6870 would be pointless, and i'm not sure if that woulkd even be an upgrade, i know a 6950 would be though.
