Another way to turn on the computer besides from the switch?

My parents computer stopped turning on, at first i thought it may have been just the switch but then i pulled out the switch (from the motherboard) and tested it with just 2 wires and shorting them, and that doesn't turn it on either.

I also changed the PSU to make sure it wasn't that

the motherboard LED is lit when connected to power.

Any ideas? or do I need a new motherboard?

Sounds like it needs another motherboard, but someone else might have more ideas.

Also if you can get a similar motherboard, then you can reuse the rest of the parts.

If If a different PSU doesn't work, then it's most likely the mobo. Try pulling out any cards that might be in the expansion slots and see if it turns on.

already tried pulling out ram and all expansion slot cards too lol, i'm generally pretty good at figuring these things out, but thought there might have been something that i missed this time.

Well as said, if a new PSU doesn't do it, then the motherboard is shot.

Have you tried taking the board out of the case and resting it on a book or something that's not a carpet or metal and seeing if it will boot then? Just to make sure the board is not shorting on the case. Have you got the correct number of standoffs installed? You don't have too few or too many do you?

Just an idea.
