i know this is a matter of opinion.....but in your opinion what is the best downloadable anti-virus software on the internet? (paid or free)

Not really. Avast, Comodo, or Avira are favorable these days.

what do you think about bitdefender or AVG?

they seem to be up there on most lists?

I don't know much about BitDefender. AVG is fat and bloaty, so I haven't recommended it in a long time.

bitdefender seems to be at the top of the list anywhere i look online, not sure what you mean by fat and bloaty?

AVG is malware in itself as far as I'm concerned. It used to be a good program when it was version 9, been bad ever since.

Yeah, that thread is old and outdated. I have plans on updating it or just creating a new one. I have a lot of project that need attention. I haven't used comodo but we have a few that do recommend it.

fat and bloaty means that it hogs a lot of your computers resources (like norton).you cant go wrong with avast or bit defender.

I use Bitdefender Free and it is cloud based, very light great detection and preety good. It will block a web page if it contains malware.

Up it a notch and Install and configure Sandboxie for your browser.
