Anti-virus, spyware and identity protection

I've read johnb35's sticky where he lists anti-virus software and so on but I've understood that you shouldn't run more than one together at the same time.

I've got AVG free loaded and wonder what else it's sensible to have to protect me from key-loggers and other unwanted issues as well?

Also is there any free software to hide/protect my identity when using the internet with my credit card details please?

Any advice gratefully received.

Thank you.

You must use a malware scanner as it will catch more than a virus program will. About 5 percent of todays infections are traditional viruses. The other 95 percent is actual malware. I recommend running Malwarebytes and Superantispyware which are free, and running them a few times a week. I use my credit cards all the time to order stuff online to pay bills and have never had an issue. I use IE but I know where and where not to go online. I run AVG 9.0 and Malwarebytes.

there is a program called peer guardian which claims to hide your identitiy online, and you can tick boxes you want like known government agencies etc as it has a database of known addresses.

Thank you both for your replies ;

johnb, I'll do as you suggest must be sound advice. Thanks :)

jamesd, I'll look up peer guardian not heard of that before. Cheers. :)
