On my Laptop... I have AVG, my tower connects to the internet via LAN on my laptop... do i need virus protection on the tower... or does the one on the laptop protect it?
 
Yes best still to put AV on the tower aswell.

Yes, you need virus/malware protection on every pc/laptop that accesses the internet. You may want to install AVAST though instead of AVG.
 
Get malwarebytes and run a scan every few days. Always, ALWAYS, need virus protection. If you don't have it, then your computer goes ka-put
