Hello people,

My ESET Smart security trial is going to run out in a few days and even though its great i dont want to spend £39 for a years protection,Yeah im tight i know :D

Anyway what antivirus should i go with now? Im running Vista Ultimate so it must be compatiable and not resource hungry .

thanks ;)

Look on ebay at BitDefender resellers. AV on it's own is very cheap, other packages are a little more expensive.

AVG is the best free anti virus program ever made for the Windows platform. It's so good, I'm running the free edition on my web server and game server, and have been completely trusting it for 2 1/2 years now. Never once had a problem, and the one virus AVG detected, it sorted out instantly, quarantining the file until I told it whether to discard the file or keep it in quarantine. I swear by this program - it is a must have for every Windows computer.

Download AVG 7.5 free

Spysweeper.

Spysweeper/antivirus is great.
Only things that get in are things I let in myself from time to time.

Erm, not really allowed busta busta. Plus there are better sites to get rapidshit links, we don't want to download your possible malware man. A for the effort?

nod32 and bitdeffender are two great paid AV's. If OP wants to pay, those are good choices. If he wants free, I back up my original statement, AVG/tards notwithstanding. :D

Please don't quote iffy posts, makes me do more work! :)

Avast and Antivir are both free. I've used neither but, from what I've heard, Antivir is awesome and offers protection that's on par with the retail software.

It does! It uses the same heuristic detection engine as Antivir's paid for variant. It's pretty much the same product cept without email scanning, network scanning, and a couple command switches (and a business license). I love it.

Why do you guys keep saying AVG is free? I went to their website at grisoft and I can't find any free versions. They're all trial. I need Firewall protection

I'm using AVG and Avast on my Vista machines and AntiVir on my XP computers. I like AntiVir better but it wouldn't ever run in Vista dont know if they ever updated it for Vista or not.
