Is it supposed to be this expensive??

On my first and "best" build it is costing me 1,700 dollars. Is there a way I can lower the price without loosing too much performance for gaming.

I will have:

NZXT Apollo Silver (no PSU) $69.99
Asus P5NSLI Socket T $119
1 or 2 of eVGA Geforce 7900GTO 512MB $253 each or 1 ATI Radeon x1900xtx

HIPER 580W $89.99
Intel Core 2 Duo e6600 $315
Two Corsair XMS2 1GB $296
Wester Digital 250GB 7200RPM $68.99
Samsung 18X Lightscribe.....$30.99
Microsoft Media Center XP Home edition $109

I already bought my monitor for $227. I am also thinking of waiting until Direct10 or something for the VGA CARDS come out.

watch the double post

I would look at going cheaper on the memory power supply and sticking to only 1 graphics card for the time being

as far as suggestions on subtitute items im not too up to date on the hgher end stuff so no suggestions

Don't get the 7900GTO/s or the X1900XTX. Settle for the X1900XT.

I know this is rough, but you could get an E6300 and overclock it..

Ok. but I was thinking of waiting until the new cards come out November. About the Chip. I dont know because the E6600 does have more power than the 6300 or the 6400.
