Any HD brand you have consistent problems with?

If you stay with the top 2 companies, western digital and seagate, you should be fine. However, I would agree that right now ive had more seagate drives go bad then western digital. What particular series of drive have you been getting and where did you get them?

Barracudas from Tiger Direct.

I just had a Seagate Momentus drive go bad from Neweggg that I just replaced a year ago or so.

Try getting western digital caviar black drive. I've only had 1 issue with them and that's when they first came out years ago. No problems since.

Since 2001, I've only had one hard drive quit on me, a Seagate, six months after the five year warranty ended.
I have used WD Protégés and Blues since 2004 and they just won't die; my PC runs 24/7.

I've never had a personal drive die on me. Only experience I have with it personally was for a computer I built for my aunt. The board on it crapped out (Samsung drive). She brought it to the shop I worked at while I was at school and I paid for the drive and just kept the RMA. It's sitting in my rig now as a secondary storage.

I've had a few issues with Seagate drives, and one Samsung Spinpoint F1 die.

Other than that, rolling with a Hitachi and WD mix has been pretty smooth sailing in my 7x 1TB RAID5 server.
