Does anyone out there have a motherboard with procceser that they can donate to me. Can't get the money to buy a new one so can anyone out there help me out please. Email me at: [email protected]
I hope there is oneone that can help me because I am runing a system that is only 400mhz with mandriva os on it. and it works just i can't run XP on it and that is what I want to do does any one have any advice for help they can give me.
 
I have an old SOYO mobo with an AMD 500mhz surface mounted cpu sitting in a static bag at the moment. The problem is the PC133 simms were used on a newer SHUTTLE board still in use for a student. The Soyo never made it to a training center due to the school closing. At this time it would be still risky trying to set it up and guarantee it works. It was originally bought used when the owner bought a new 450mhz Dell. Then everyone went Asus!
 
If someone else doesn't an older board with ram to toss your way save for a newer one. It will be a lot easier getting it running even with clearances on some model video and sound cards, better cpu, and faster memory. You will see XP run even better there.

EDIT: Egads! When looking at the board still left in the static bag it turned out to be the Shuttle capable of 768mb of ram with three not two simm sllots. It would need PC133 not 100 simms to get it running. Plus it is the predecessor to the Duron with the exchangable
cpu socket. It was the first Asus board in the same case that went out.
