Any notable difference in performance?

i have an HP Media Center m1070n. came with 512mb ram.

im debating whether i should go 1gb or 4gb. Would the difference between 1gb and 4gb be big?

i mostly use my comp for little bit of gaming, no high demanding games. usual multitasking browsing and multiple applications open.

If you'r OS is XP 2 gigs is more than enough and you should see a difference in load times, etc.

Make sure you get the correct memory and buy it from places like NewEgg because it will be cheaper.
 
I suggest 2.5GB. 1GB for XP is slow, 2GB is about right.
I assume you already got either 1 x 512MB or 2 x 256MB. I would recommend you buying 2 x 1GB RAM
 
I don't think 4 gigs would help when you don't even have a dual core. Honestly, I wouldn't spend much upgrading that thing when it has 1 core and ddr.
