I am going to learn OpenGL programming but I need to learn Visual C++ first. Is there any free software that is good? If there is no decent free software, I would like to know whate the standard Visual C++ program is and how much it is. I've searched and all I can find is an $827 Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0. There has to be a way to learn C++ without being rich.

Damn! I downloaded Visual Studio Express but I have to get Service Pack 2 to use it! Is there any alternative? I can't download SP2 on a 28k connection...

I think I'll just see if my computer lab facilitator will let me download service pack 2 and burn it to cd. Thanks anyway, i don't like ebay (or any other auctioning sites for that matter) very much.

Dude, just get down to you major computer superstore and buy MS Visual C++. I live in Britian and I think it costs something like £89 (Pounds/ Sterling) which roughly translates to $157.85 (Dollars) in the current exchange rate. I think it a cheaper alternative to buying the full thing i.e. MS Visual Studio 6.0

*I know, I know- Double Posting, Not Allowed* BUT
Does anyone know the difference between Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0 and Microsoft Visual Studio .NET?
