I was wondering if this would be a good configuration (and ok price) for a laptop. I'll be using the laptop for pretty heavy gaming. I know im probalby better off for price/performance with a desktop for gaming, but I would like something mobile for college.

Anything about it that would be perticularly undesirable (overheating, noise, ect)?

Thanks in advance

yes. it will produce lots of heat but it can be easily solved if you get a one of those notebook cooler pads.

it looks fine to me but you should look at alienware, dell, and other companies as they might have better deals. unless youve already looked into it.

I've looked into several others including Dell and Alienware, both are way more expensive for a similar configuration (if they offer similar). Im trying to keep under $2000 as well, and this seemed like a nice configuration within my price range. I'm still not 100% sure about what kind of processor, but I've has suggestions (from this forum) that duo core is good, and pentium 4s and such run very high temps in laptops, and little-no feedback on wether it would be better to get a AMD processor or not.

you are right, that laptop you have listed is very powerful, and can handle any games nowadays. that price is rather good as well. you are right about core duo, it is much better than the P4 plus the heat would be an issue combined with the 7200rpm HDD
