Any test available for flashdrives?

I have a 4Gb USB2 Flashdrive which I bought recently. I have only used it a couple of times. I put about 3.5Gb of files on it previously and now when I go to read from it I cannot access anything. The Properties (the Pie Graph) tells me there is 3.5Gb used space but no files come up on Explorer.

Is there any test I can do to see if it has a problem?

With the remaining 250Mb or so of unused space, I can use this as normal: read, write and delete as normal. So the USB device must be Ok.

I have swapped USB ports numerous times and restarted pc etc.

Can anyone tell me the best way to retrieve the other data please? OR at least view the files in Explorer?

I have about 15 other USB from 4Gb to 16Gb and no other's have done this.

thanks for any help

Didn't have to create a new thread with the same issue, I will delete your last thread.

Flash drives are not that reliable. Anything can happen that can cause issues like this. You can try using Recuva to see if it can recover any files.

Thankyou. I made a new post using the word Flashdrive instead of 'memory stick' as I thought that term might not be known to people and I had over 60 views and not one reply. I will have a look at that program and let you know if any success. Thanks

Just downloaded Recuver and tried it. Didn't work. However it did detect a file I had deleted from the working part of that flash drive (the 250mb that is useable). But the remainder of the majority of that drive (about 3.2Gb) is inaccessible/unreadable. No file names or directories come up and nothing to indicate there is anything there at all except the fact that in Properties, it shows the drive as having 92% used space. And I know I put files on it previously. I will try Scandisc but I doubt that will show anything
