computers are advancing so fast these days. it really makes me wonder what the future will bring. what does everybody else think about how fast PCs are advancing? what do you think the future will bring?
its easy to see how its advancing at an increasing rate:
1956: 5mb hd
1971: 1mhz cpu
1975: 1kb ram
1981: 1kbps modems
1982: 64kb ram
1982: 1.2gb hd
1985: 16mhz cpu
1986: 1mb ram
1991: 100mb hd
1993: 60mhz cpu
1995: 2gb hd
1997: 233mhz cpu
1997: 10gb hd
1999: 500mhz cpu
2000: 1ghz cpu
2000: 2ghz cpu
2003: 3ghz cpu
2004: 64bit cpu
2005: 500gb hd
2006: duel core cpus
2006: 750gb hd
2007: quad core cpus
2008: intel estimates releaseing an 8 core CPU
at this point, hard drives are increaseing 50% per a year, and that rate is advancing.
cpus are getting faster and faster too. went upto 3.2ghz, then went to 64bit, then duel core last year, quad core this year, and intel is estimating 8 core CPUs by the end of 2008
who knows what we'll have after another 10 years. the past 10 years pretty much 100x'd computer power. hell, what will we have in 50 years? a cpu with 50 cores running at 5 terrahertz on a montherboard with 5 PB ram and a 200 EB Hard drive? with how gaming is advancing, i woulden't be suprised if in a few years theres a game with true to life graphics, many games already look realistic, but you can still tell they are games.
