Anyone having freezes in Chrome lately?

As of today I've been noticing that Chrome will often pause/freeze for a couple of seconds every now and then. Sometimes a loading page will just stop all progress and then continue, or a YouTube video will freeze (although I still hear audio), or when I'm typing the cursor will freeze and then everything I've typed after that point will suddenly spill out at once a few seconds later.

I know Chrome has updated recently, but I also installed the extension crxMouse Chrome Gestures yesterday. I disabled it and then uninstalled it altogether, but the freezes are still happening (just happened right now as I typed "freezes"!!!).

Anyone else getting this, or know how I might fix this?

Thanks!

Haven't had that issue yet.
I would properly try a reinstall. All your data are synced to your Google ID anyway.
Or maybe it's a plugin that's giving you trouble.

No new extensions except the mouse gesture one. Can it still have an effect if it's uninstalled?

I also removed Smooth Gestures, which seemed to stop working a few days ago (I think to force an upgrade to a paid version).

Have you tried re-installing Chrome without any extension?

Since the update it got faster for me...

I guess I should have thought of this first, but whenever I do a malware scan, it always comes up with 0 items found. This time, however, it found 1 thing. I couldn't tell what it was exactly, but I removed it and so far I'm not noticing an issue. Hopefully this continues and then I will try to reinstall the mouse gesture extension.

Have you tried resetting chrome? If you really want to run some malware scans, then you'll have to run others besides malwarebytes. Should be running ADWcleaner and junkware removal tool every so often if you have a habit of getting infected.

I'm not sure about freezes, but my Chrome will not show videos from news reports. It only Shows EMBED </> where the video is supposed to be, but I can copy&past the link in Firefox to view it. This only just started with the last update.

No, I never get infected, which is why I didn't even think to do this at first. I will look into those other two programs, but so far I think the problem has cleared up. I hope so.
