okay so ill explain a bit more.

I have my old pc, which is listed in my Sig, its my pride and joy as it was my first ever computer lol.

now i have my laptop, which is also in the sig, and is using the WiFi for access to the Netz.

i have Linux Mint 12 installed on my PC but i need driver updates. And the drivers for the wireless just wont work, installed and everything but wont let me connect to anything

so i have a 1metre RJ45 cable here, and i plug it in to my laptop then into my PC. it wont recognize anything but my laptop says there is an external connection blah blah.

im stumped. google didnt help at all, so i thought ill ask the awesome peoples at CF :)

thanks in advance

I bet if you get a crossover cable and share the internet connection it should work. Crossover cables are generally needed between 2 pc's. Using a regular ethernet cable will not allow them to communicate to each other.

ah ok. well they somehow communicate, and i can access files. but i want the laptop to share internet with the pc, like a tether sort of speak

You're trying to get online on your desktop using the laptops connection?

Go to network connections on your laptop, disconnect from your wireless, select both the wired and wireless adapters then right click and choose bridge. I don't recall if it asks you to reboot or not. Just reconnect to the wifi on your laptop, and your desktop should be able to get online using the cable.
